TST’s Director of Energy Division, Alexandre Desjardins, answers your questions :
What’s the difference between an RCx and a building energy and sustainability audit?

RCx’s main goal is to optimize a building’s existing systems to guarantee their proper operation and maximum efficiency, while an energy audit evaluates a building’s energy consumption and identifies energy-saving opportunities.

Which should I initiate to improve my building’s performance?

The answer lies in the project’s purpose: if the goal is a rapid reduction in energy consumption at low cost, then RCx might be the project to favor. On the other hand, if the goal is to define a game plan for coming years and to identify the greatest possible number of energy-saving and/or decarbonizing measures within a precise financial framework, then an energy audit is highly recommended.
